Jonesport is a small fishing village of approximately 1500, located along Maine's rugged Down East coast. Visitors to the town enjoy the sights and sounds of a real working fishing village, and delight in the fresh clams, lobsters and other seafood, straight from the boats! The Jonesport area abounds with wildlife, such as deer, black bear, moose, horned owls and bald eagles. It's also a popular birding spot, with charter boat trips available to see the elusive Maine puffin on Machias Seal Island daily.

In the summertime, Jonesport holds a special 4th of July celebration and the World's Fastest Lobster Boat Races. You'll find lots of hiking trails in the nearby Great Wass Island Preserve, along with biking, kayaking and other sports. The weather is perfect, with warm days and cool nights. Fall is an exceptional time to visit when the trees turn crimson and gold. You can tour the countryside and visit the area's many antique and craft shops, looking for those one-of-a-kind gifts and artwork. |
Drive south to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Head north to Eastport, Maine (the easternmost town in the U.S.), Campobello Island (Roosevelt's summer home), New Brunswick, and Quoddy Head Lighthouse. |
